Sonmohar

Peltophorum  is a genus (group) of 5–15 species of flowering plants in the family Fabaceae, subfamily Caesalpinioideae. The genus is native to certain tropical regions across the world. The species are medium-sized to large trees growing up to 15–25 m.

The other common names are Sonmohar, Golden Flamboyant, Yellow Flamboyant, Yellow Flame Tree, Yellow Poinciana.

Sonmohar has beautiful yellow flowers. The tree is used as an ornament tree. The petals spread a beautiful yellow carpet when they fall.
